There’s nothing like the feeling of a new “budding” relationship! Those first months of absolute bliss, head over heals, feelings of being “IN LOVE”.  In the infancy of a relationship there’s still the uncertainty of “where it’s going” and there’s a lot of figuring out the other person and a slow unveiling of who YOU truly are.

So here’s the deal.  After some of the initial glow starts to wear off and both people slip into the routine of being together, things start to change.  The relationship slowly starts to morph into more of a “family” type relationship.  You know, the kind where you love each other and KNOW IT so you become a little more reckless with your interactions?

  1. No sarcasm
  2. No “poking fun” at each other in front of other people. (This is often a way to criticize while hiding behind the mask of “just joking”!)
  3. Don’t be gross around each other
  4. Good hygiene is key!
  5. Be kind and never risk saying something that might hurt feelings
  6. Go out of your way to express why you love your partner to them
  7. Remember to say thank you and please

These seemingly simple things can make a HUGE difference in how your relationship feels. My partner Tom and I have been together for 12 years and we pretty much follow these 7 principles.  We are happy and honestly never fight.   I know that he has my back and he knows I have his.   It’s wonderful to be treated special and with such care every single day by the person I love, that there is no way I would give him anything less in return.

It’s simple really.  Treat your Lover like the most special person in the world and enjoy a long and healthy relationship!
